My Phone Buddy

As it becomes more difficult to get all the way to Bloomfield to see Marshall - I have started calling him more. And he is finally figuring out how to talk to me on the phone. As you can see... anytime he talks on Mom's phone he thinks I am on the other line! I told Dee next time just call me...or he will think everytime I call you are just playing tricks on him!

Harvest Wrapped Up

Harvest finally wrapped up last week:

Dad even got in on some of the hauling action!

I was in charge of bringing lunch!

Two of the three girls were home for the weekend! We had fun "helping" with harvest! Or at least taking pictures while everyone else worked! Now back to the house - I hope!

Harvest Continues

Though the guys may not have wanted the rain...it was a great day for a break AND to spend some time with my husband! He has been doing some 72 hour stretches and we just enjoyed curling up on the couch, watching a show and then taking a nap! We are done with beans and have got a good start on corn! It doesn't end though when the crops are out as the cows are need to come home too! It is the work that never ends...it just goes on and on my friends....

(damn me for marring such a hard working man)

Harvest Begins

Jon has finally gotten into harvest full swing this past weekend! Hopes to get back to the house as soon as all the crops are out -that way we can pay for it!!!

Carving Pumpkins!

I brought Marshall 4 HUGE pumpkins. We carved them up on the deck and Marshall got right in there and helped scoop out the guts! He can be a diva like his mother...but he was all about getting down and dirty last night!

Hokey Pokey

Marshall learned the hokey Pokey at his aunt Jessica's wedding dance and now he likes to do it all the time.

Ernie's Song!

I taught this song to Marshall and it was on the radio when we came home from daycare and he started to sing it and said "Ernie's Song". My godson is just the BEST!

What the?

So it has been over a month....how awful am I! Here is something to hold you over until I can come up with more:

I ordered a box of peaches….months ago and they came! Now what do I do with them? I ended up freezing most of them - 3 batches as a matter of fact - but I had a few too many to put in those batches BUT a few to few for another batch. Now what to do? I found a really east and super YUMMY recipe for Peach Crisp! First time I every made such a thing - but it turned out GREAT:

Ingredients
For the peach filling:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
10 cups frozen peaches, thawed, about 3 pounds prepared
1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tablespoon water
1 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon butter

For the crumb topping:
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup oats
1/4 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature, cut into 8 pieces

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving

Special Equipment: 12 by 8-inch oval stoneware dish or 13 by 9-inch rectangular glass or stoneware dish

Directions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

To make the peach filling: In a large bowl, stir together sugars, flour, cinnamon and salt. Add peaches and gently toss to coat. Mix together cornstarch slurry and lemon juice and stir into peaches to incorporate. Butter a 12 by 8-inch oval dish and add peach mixture.

To make the crumb topping: In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients, add in butter pieces and combine with hands until crumbly.

Top peaches with half of the crumb topping. Place in oven and immediately reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes, then add remainder of the crumb topping. Reduce heat to 325 degrees F and bake until golden and bubbling, another 45 minutes. Remove from oven and let sit for 15 minutes before serving.

Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.

So yummy right out of the oven or zapped for just 30 seconds in the microwave!

12 days to DC

I got picked to be on the big trip for the station again this year - 12 days to Washington DC. Jon didn't really want to leave the house - but he came along and now we are hoping everything stays standing at home while we are gone. You can follow our travels on my work website below!

We have a roof....

...or at least the start of one! Way to go guys!

Chris Schuch has been there to help quite a bit - so have several other neighbors including Jerry Kostal, Joe Pechous & Jim Fillaus!

This will eventually be part of our master upstairs suite! I am so looking forward to that! Although I would feel better about living up there once the floor is on and everything is enclosed. I have never gotten to live "upstairs" before...always wanted to! My room was either on the main floor or int he basement!

I know - another video of Marshall...but he is getting to be so entertaining! And I just love his laugh. This is the Bratetic family's new puppy - Tipper! Marshall is welcoming him to the family.

Catching Up!

Not sure if you heard...but the house we were working so hard on had a bit of a disaster June 22nd. We are still waiting on insurance to get started again!

The whole Tycz-Sedlacek Family

Our Unity Candle got left in the car - this is what happened!

Just a 3 weeks after our wedding - the Sedlacek Family grew again adding Tim Souhrada!

I spent part of the 4th of July weekend in Bloomfield with the Bratetic family - and I got to do Marshalls hair!

Godmama Ernie

Marshall, Dee and I spent the day Saturday in Sioux City doing some Independence shopping! Marshall really enjoyed Victoria's Secret where he found some pretties of his own!

I was nice enough to bring Marshall some fireworks to play with too! His favorites are the party poppers and the snaps! When Dee & Loren set off the bigger fireworks Marshall would say "Bang Mommy, Bang! Bang Daddy, Bang!" He is just too funny!

He also now calls me Ernie - plain as day! It started off as Ern...and he added the "e"! Dee likes to encourage it - so I may be Auntie Ernie from now on!

View From My Game Camera

I set up a game camera in February to try to catch whatever was leaving very LARGE tracks in my snow. I forgot that I left it out there and 4 months later - I have compiled a gallery of photos of all the activity I miss but my camera caught! There were over 380 pictures - most of nothing but the trees (since the wind activated the camera a few times) so I choose the ones with critters and you can see them HERE!

Ann's Wedding

Jon's sister (my new sister-in-law) Ann got married Saturday and both Jon and I were in the wedding. That is two weddings in one month that we were in together! And this was probably the last good picture of us together until another one of our siblings gets married! You can see more from the wedding on my images by Erin blog! (And for this one I was 6th Bridesmaid, Photographer & wedding day coordinator)

It may just be me...but I swear he did not look this old just two weeks ago at our wedding! How can it be nearly two years already! My little Godson is not a baby anymore - but he is still rather silly:

17 Days Remain

Just checking in to let you know - 17 days remain until the wedding and Jon has just cut the alfalfa, the beans need to be started, and the house hasn't budged in 3 weeks (but we can only do so much)!

The cake, buns & flowers have been ordered. Everyone has been fitted - with my last fitting next week! The food that can be purchased has been taken care of and Grandma Tycz has lined up the Fr Cronin center kitchen for the preparation of all the food just days before the big event. Grandma Wagner is fresh back from Italy and already volunteering to help boil nearly 100 lbs of potatoes!

We met for our last marriage class last night - and I cried and cried. Good tears, sad tears and nervous tears. It was so overwhelming being in the church all by ourselves realizing the undertaking we are about to make... and one neither of us takes lightly.

I want to thank you all for thinking of us and caring about our big day and our little lives! We really appreciate all the thoughtfulness and willingness to help. Be careful - I will most likely be taking you up on it if you keep putting the offers out there!

Much love - the ever closer to being Mrs. Jon G. Sedlacek!

Enjoying the Nice Weather Outdoors

He is sure starting to talk up a storm - and is all about exploring...and yelling at the cats!

Human Dirt Packer

Dad and I worked on the house this weekend as kind of a Father-Daughter day event. Jon was in the field - so we were left to do what needed to be done…playing in the dirt! We back filled 2 sides of the house with only one left to go! Dad was much better at running the dirt packer than I was - so I had to come up with a more creative way of getting the job done! See the video below:

And here is me - the human packer:

House Update

We have been clicking right along...wall should be going up today! It is going to look like a house really soon!
